Kayla Santiago

Hello, my name is Kayla Santiago, and I am currently a junior, majoring in Sociology and complementing it with a minor in Strategic Management and Legal Communications, I am on a dedicated pre-law track. I am also a proud 2021 recipient of the Albert Kornblit scholarship.

Enrolled at the pinnacle of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Howard University, I have been fortunate to be an integral part of several prominent organizations that have enriched my collegiate experience. These include the illustrious Howard University Mock Trial team, the National Council of Negro Women, and the NAACP. My involvement in these organizations has granted me not just insight but also a profound sense of purpose.

My time at Howard has been marked by a relentless pursuit of expanding my understanding of social justice issues. I have dedicated much of my time to becoming a catalyst for change, driven by my belief in the power of advocacy to bring about transformative shifts in our society. When I envision my future, my aspiration is crystal clear: to embark on the path of legal education immediately after college and dedicate my career to the cause of juvenile defense. My passion is to be the resolute advocate for children who too often find themselves navigating a legal system that often overlooks their voices and rights.

In this journey, I do not simply envision myself as a lawyer but as a beacon of hope for those who need it the most – the underrepresented and underserved youth of our society. It is my hope that throughout my journey, I can help rewrite their narratives, champion their rights, and ensure that they are heard and protected.
